Spiritual Wellness: Unlearning habits of trauma and healing

Greetings in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus. It’s a new day a new month and our thoughts are new, oh what a blessed day it is. We are just few weeks away to Good Friday. Surely you already know where you’ll be fellowshipping and serving God at. It’s the third month of the year and we are starting the new month with the topic “unlearning habits of trauma and healing” but before we start let’s pray:

Lord Jesus Christ we call on you today Lord as we seek understanding so we may be able to unlearn habits of trauma and healing that Lord Jesus Christ may strengthen us to be able to continue with your teaching. King Jesus we pray and ask that may remind us of all habits that are leading us to destruction so we may be able to remove them out of lives and be able to let go and have our hearts made anew. As you stated in the book Ezekiel 36, Lord Jesus Christ we thank you on this day and we give you the honour and glory. Lord Jesus Christ we thank you and we say Amen and Amen.

Unlearning habits of trauma and healing is one the topics that deal with our hearts and help us heal so we may be able to let go of all those past pain experience so we can experience joy in full even when something is triggered in us, we will be able to react with calmness and understanding. Yes, trauma has habits and those habits exist in our lives without us understanding how deep they are and by doing that we just overlook it and move on in life then when something is triggered in us, we will either break or react in that moment if not in that moment we go and sulk in a private corner to hide it.

Habits are part of who we are and they shape certain aspects of our- if not kept in check they’ll either build or destroy us, so we really need to keep them and regulate them every now to evaluate if they still working for or just destroying us. To unlearn something isn’t easy because that thing is a part of your existence as you believed it to be true and that thing you’ve learnt is a part of who you are and taking it away or removing it causes certain aspects of your life to crumble because you taking away what has built you to the person you are today. Taking it away is good for you although it may be painful now as you want to remove it but you will get through it-you just need to pray and ask God for strength.

Trauma is mental imprint of pain experienced in life causing a person to have a challenge with copying due to the stress and anxiety thus pulling away from reality. Sometimes it’s not the pain experienced in the past but the pain that’s currently experienced by an individual, we need to understand that there are different types of traumas-we are not all affected the same way. Even with characters in the Bible, they did go through it of which we are to study some of the characters so we can see how they were traumatized and how did they cope so we can be able to learn copying mechanism that we will work for us.

The first type of trauma of we is called Acute trauma, this type of trauma only occurs once in a person’s life yet it leaves a deep scar- it can be events such as accidents, abuse from upbringing, abuse from spouse or rejection from family and these may be shortly lived or occur once in a prolonged form, it can either be emotionally occurring or it occurs physically in your life. When it occurs mentally your focus and thinking capabilities are affected as it imprinted in your mind, heart and soul thus your focus in life decreases and no longer pay attention to important parts of your life thus causing you to seek a moment of gate way of pleasure that will make you feel like a normal person when you indulge in it and this one moment of gate way pleasure opens up for addiction.

Most addiction that we often see are because of the gate way of pleasure and cause a person to slowly loose his/her sanity. When it occurs physical it affects your way dressing and relation because you want to hide your scars so that no one questions you because you know if people around you see those bruises they’ll take steps to towards you getting the help you need and because you’re physically affected you hide dressing in a way that hides your bruises.

In some cases Acute trauma occurs once in your life both mentally and physically, as we’re about to pause for today lets go read the book of Gensis 37 when Joseph was betrayed by his brothers because of the dream he had and how he was loved by his father, Joseph’s trauma occurred once yet the bruise he had was so deep and laid hidden and before we move on to the next type of trauma take moment when you alone and write down pain events that occurred in your life and haven’t healed from them.

Let’s pray: Father Lord Jesus we thank you for revealing unto us such a depth of healing that we need go through as your children so we’re able to have our hearts made anew, Lord, we pray that may you give us the strength we need in this process as we lay our hearts that make them anew so we’re able lean unto your more deeply-Lord Jesus Christ we thank you-giving you Honor and Glory Lord- we thank you and we Amen and Amen.
